‘Tis the season for ribbons, garland, ornaments and holiday wreaths. Our very own Ken Malagiere offers a step-by-step guide to creating a beautiful wreath that will instantly inspire holiday spirit!

What you will need:

-Artificial Winter Greens Wreath Base

-Ilex Berries

-Fresh Flat Cedar

-Pinecones

-Favorite Holiday Picks (available at Mueller’s Historic Florist)

-Floral Wire

-Hot Glue Gun (optional)

-Wired Ribbon

Step 1: Begin with your artificial winter greens foundation. Scatter your pinecones around the wreath and secure them with floral wire or hot glue.

Step 2: Feather in your fresh flat cedar to add a beautiful texture and fragrance.

Step 3: Take your favorite holiday picks and work them into the wreath. You should have no problem securing the picks, but you can use a hot glue gun if you’d like. You may purchase these festive picks from Mueller’s Historic Florist or your local craft store.

Step 4: Clip the ends of your ilex berries and start to incorporate them through the brackets. To ensure that the berries stay attached (especially if this wreath will be outdoors) you can secure them with floral wire. These will add a beautiful red accent to your wreath.

Step 5: Finish off the wreath with a beautiful holiday bow. To make a proper bow, leave yourself a tail of ribbon that is approximately the size of the wreath. Take your ribbon and keep it between your thumb and index finger. Pinch it and always remember to come back to the center. Start with your widest or largest loops first. Twist the wire so that the outside of the ribbon remains on the outside of the bow. You want to have various sizes of loops. Repeat this process until you have four loops on both sides (eight total). Finish off the bow with a loop in the center.

Step 6: Place the bow at the top of your wreath and secure it with floral wire.

Step 7: Admire your beautiful creation and place it wherever you’d like!
