We love to empower our crafty customers and knowing how to make a beautiful bow is a very useful skill. Flower arranging, wreath making, present wrapping and any kind of holiday decoration can benefit from a full, beautiful bow! Follow along with our video and use this list of written instructions to empower you to make gorgeous, full bows.
Materials are simple: scissors, ribbon of your choice (longer ribbon for a fuller bow), wire cutter, and florist wire. We used a double faced ivory satin ribbon.
Instructions:
- Start with your ribbon, giving yourself some slack. The face (front) of the ribbon should be facing out.
- Make your first loop and come under and over for your second loop. Then gather both loops at a center point and hold this center point with your thumb and index finger.
- With your other hand, twist the ribbon, so the face of the ribbon is facing out again. Create another loop and come back to center. Pinching each new loop with the others between your index finger and thumb.
- Repeat for 5-7 loops on each side of the bow, making each loop slightly smaller as you get to the center of the bow. Twist, loop and repeat.
- When you have created the size bow you want, take your piece of floral wire thru the center of the bow, right where your thumb and index finger are. Pinch the bow and twist the wire in the back to hold the bow together.
- Cut enough slack on the ribbon to give it beautiful length.
- Use the bow on a wreath, present or vase!
