Create your own classic rose boutonniere in just a few easy steps!
What you will need:
–Vendela Rose
–Wax Flower
–Italian Ruscus
–Dusty Miller
–Floral Wire
–Floral Tape
Step 1: Choose your varietal. In this case, we’ve selected the Vendela, a soft cream rose.
Step 2: Take your rose and cut it at its neck, so that the stem of the bloom is what ultimately will be wrapped for the gentleman’s lapel.
Step 3: Break off the brackets with blooms at the tips from the larger wax flower stem and set aside. Be sure to leave enough of a stem of the wax flower beneath the blooms to affix to the rose.
Step 4: Place a floral wire through the neck of the stem near the head of the bloom, pull it through and fold it down.
Step 5: Then, take the floral tape and wrap the entire stem of the rose. You will cut this at the end and discard anything you don’t need.
Step 6: Place your wax flower at the back and front of your stem. Secure with floral tape.
Step 7: It’s time to incorporate your Italian ruscus and dusty miller. The Italian ruscus has a rich green tone that pairs well with the softer dusty miller, which has more of a blue/gray tone. Place them both at the back of the rose and secure with floral tape.
Step 8: Finally, take your wire cutter and give the boutonniere a nice, clean tip.
