Why do we kiss under Mistletoe?

Why do we kiss under Mistletoe?

Being caught under the Mistletoe is a lovely tradition, but do you know why you hang Mistletoe and give loved ones a smooch when you catch them there? Mistletoe can be traced back to multiple ancient civilizations and specifically Norse Mythology where it was used as a symbol of friendship and love. The ancient Druids also believed it had mystical powers which brought good luck to the household where it was displayed. So, keep those traditions alive and hang that Mistletoe this season!

We love the holidays including all the traditions, the family gatherings and the gift of giving. In that spirit wanted to share a little floral inspirations for your holidays this winter!

  • Classics - For decorating or for gifting, a traditional Christmas plant is perfect. Poinsettias, White Cyclamen, Narcissus and Amaryllis are all beautiful, traditional blooms.
  • Traditional Colors with Unique Blooms - With our arrangements at Narcissus this year, we are loving red roses and tulips, green cymbidiums and Christmas greens in white washed or distressed boxes. We like to add pine cones and red ornament balls or candy canes for extra Christmas cheer! Or, change it up and use the colors that complement your dinner table.
  • Seasonal Greenery - Add greenery to your table, candle holders, mantle and front porch with easy to find Seasonal Greenery. Look for pine needles, pinecones, birch branches, evergreen sprigs and holly leaves and berries, which are all festive and will even help your house smell great. You can probably find many great choices in your own yard!

If you need a gift this holiday season for someone that might not appreciate a floral gift, you can delight your recipient with one of our gourmet gift baskets full of delectable treats. They are sure to please anyone!
We wish all of you a wonderful holiday filled with celebrations and love! From our Narcissus family to yours, Happy Holidays!
